Exclusive "BANSHEE!!!" Trailer @ FANGORIA.COM
Producer Andrew Gernhard of Synthetic Cinema gave Fango an exclusive look at the trailer for his latest fright flick BANSHEE!!!; you can check it out here. Curvaceous chicks and creature carnage await; you can track back through our prior coverage of the movie here.
BANSHEE!!! director Colin Theys, who also provided the copious FX (including the entirely digital title creature), tells us that the film “is coming along really well in postproduction. There’s still a lot of work to be done, but the end of the tunnel is in sight. Andrew has been focusing on the details of the sound mix, adding in that extra little squirt at just the right moment to get everyone to squirm, and we’re also working now with our composer, Matthew Llewellyn, on the score. He also wrote the music for the trailer, and is going to make this movie rock!”
As for his FX tasks, the filmmaker says he’s “spending some extra time to try to make them really pop. This monster doesn’t just make a cameo at the end. So often in lower-budgeted movies, the majority of the effects effort goes into just one or two scenes, but in BANSHEE!!! we’ve got action through the entire story. I’m concentrating on giving the creature weight, and making it feel like it’s really there.” Still, Theys admits, “We’re obviously not going to be able to hide the fact that it’s a CG monster. Not even the best Hollywood films can always do that, but what we can do is make sure that when this baby gets her hands on something, you believe it. We didn’t try to play it safe with the CGI either. There’s no cutting to static wide shots; the monster is right in the thick of the action with the characters.”
On that note, Theys says of the teaser, “It shows just a hint of what the Banshee can do. There are several huge action scenes not represented at all in the trailer, so while we’re very excited about getting it out, we’ve definitely still got more tricks up our sleeves.” Visit BANSHEE!!!’s MySpace page here and Synthetic Cinema’s official site here.
